Retrofitting a trailer hitch

There are various retrofit kits available to retrofit the tow bar on the Ford Focus MK4. It all depends on whether your Ford Focus is already prepared to retrofit a tow bar or not. You also have to decide whether you want a permanent tow bar or a removable one.

In addition to the retrofit kit and the actual installation, some programming still needs to be done. Installation depends on the choice of configuration and manufacturer. Please refer to the enclosed instructions. I have already shown what is needed for programming and how to do what in various videos and there is a step-by-step guide here.

Now let’s get to the changes required (many thanks to Frederick W. for the information)

This represents the status as of September 2024 – unfortunately (at the moment) some functions cannot be changed by simple “configuration” but only by AS-BUILT. This may change in the future and you will be able to change everything simply by “configuration”. But let’s start now:

PAM (required to detect trailers and switch off PDC)
